These bands are approximate on purpose: a block that yields a clean 68“ width on Monday might yield 71“ on the next cut, because slab width follows the block’s actual face, not a factory spec sheet. How to sanity-check a slab-size quote

  1. Ask for sqft yield, not slab count. A “12-slab” quote means nothing without the per-slab sqft — a mill can hit almost any slab count by cutting smaller, lower-yield slabs from the same block.
  2. Confirm thickness before comparing $/sqft across suppliers. A $32/sqft 3 cm quote and a $32/sqft 2 cm quote are not the same price — normalize to 2 cm terms (divide the 3 cm number by roughly 1.45) before ranking offers.
  3. Get the actual slab dimensions for jumbo claims. “Jumbo” isn’t a regulated term; some suppliers apply it to anything over 60 sqft. Ask for length x width in inches or cm, not the label.
